Cristiano Ronaldo's return to Manchester United has not gone the way he would have wanted. See why joining Manchester City was better.

Soon after he returned from Euro 2020 where he represented Portugal, it was confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo will leave Juventus after three years but it was unsure where he would be heading to even though initial reports suggested Manchester City or PSG.

It soon became clear Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes had offered him to Manchester City who were willing to add him to an already packed attack and have already placed Bernardo Silva and Raheem Sterling in the market to free up space and wages.

When it had already become clear Ronaldo was heading to the Premier League and will be playing for the blue side of Manchester, Manchester United moved to block the move and persuasion from former teammates and a call from Sir Alex Ferguson changed things and he returned home.

Cristiano Ronaldo had only bettered a few of his personal records and helped United win a few games, the team's burden will drag him down and it was better to have joined Pep Guardiola and give him the luxury of coaching both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
