His soccer skills and hard work made Cristiano Ronaldo a man with an amount of money that is difficult of calculate. Knowing his wealth, he decided to invest part of it in a business and try to make it profit. Given he has no time for dedicate to it, he appointed his brother, Hugo dos Santos Aveiro, to run it.
The company, named Mussara, produces and distribute sports clothing. And Cristiano’s name is a boost for production and sales everywhere. Given he got a license agreement to make use of his name, Hugo went further, ordered 13,000 Juventus-like shirts and tried to sold them at the Cristiano Ronaldo museum in Funchal, were they were born.
The problem is that the color is identical to that trademarked by Adidas, so Hugo is now being investigated for fraud. He has license to merchandise Cristiano, but not Juventus, and now he is in trouble with Turin Public Prosecutor’s Office. An economic settlement could not be reached, so the issue is being taken to court.
With the argument the shirt sales might make not so loyal competition with Juventus’ actual store, the club can ask for compensation with a cut of the sales. Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo is watching surprised how his brother got into unnecessary legal trouble with his own club.
