Almost 1,000 kilometers from Lisbon, Funchal with 110,000,000 inhabitants is the capital of Madeira, an island located in the Atlantic Ocean, closer to Morocco and the Canary Islands than to the Portuguese territory that shares a border with Spain. Cristiano Cristiano was born and raised there, dreaming of being a great footballer. He never imagined that through those same streets he would transform himself into the Portuguese pride. With him, his team won the only two titles in its history (Euro 2016 and Nations League 2019), in addition to being the player who wore that jacket the most times and the scorer, no less.

Born there, he took his first football steps at CF Andorinha at the age of seven, where his father gave a hand as the prop. At 10 he caught the attention of Nacional, the largest club in the region and which today is in the Second Division. But just two years later he went to try Sporting in Lisbon, where he stayed and began his story, debuting at 18 years old. Nine months later Manchester United had already bought him and all his success began.

As CR7 got bigger and bigger in terms of football, Funchal was overflowing with pride to see that 7 won everything with the Red Devils at the hands of Alex Ferguson, his first Ballon d'Or and the pass to Real Madrid, the most expensive of history at that time with the 94 million euros. Success after success dressed in white, in 2013 came the inauguration of the CR7 Museum, which became a great attraction of the place.

There're all the trophies, among the five Ballons d'Or that he conquered. So much so that in 2016 it needed a remodel to expand it. In that reopening, even the President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, was present. And the 'Museu CR7' became the sponsor of the Uniao Madeira jersey.

Next to the museum is the Cristiano Ronaldo hotel called 'Pestana CR7' and that in recent days was offered by the player to be used as a hospital, at the disposal of his country's health for the coronavirus. in addition to the donation that he made of one million euros and the salary reduction at Juventus.

And of course, there is a four-hour tourist tour to visit all the places in Cristiano. Passing from the areas he frequented as a boy, the clubs where he was formed and arriving at the museum and the hotel. But it does not end there, because in the port of Funchal there is a bronze statue of him, with the legend that says 'the best player in the world'. "It was here where it all began, my origins are here both in life and in football. I did not expect to have a statue in life, it is more beautiful than me. It is very well done", Ronaldo said the day it was inaugurated, in December 2014.

As if that were not enough, Nacional dedicated the complex where the youths play to him, naming it 'Cristiano Ronaldo Campus Futebol'. Although the most curious thing happened in 2016. After winning the Euro, the tribute they paid to the 7 was to name the Madeira airport after it, which was renamed 'Aeroporto Internacional da Madeira Cristiano Ronaldo'.
