Cristiano Ronaldo has more Portugal national teammates in 2021 Ballon d'Or nomination than Lionel Messi

The 2021 ballon d'Or nomination 30 man shortlist was released yesterday and Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi again we're nominated for the award they have won 11 times between themselves in the last 12 editions.

Cristiano Ronaldo had two other Portugal national teammates in the 30 man shortlist. He has Bruno Fernandes who is also his teammate at Manchester United for his outstanding goalscoring year. He also has defender Ruben Dias who plays for Premier League club Manchester City.

Lionel Messi only has one Argentina national teammate in the 30man shortlist. Lautaro Martinez who plays for Italian club Inter Milan and won the Italian Serie A last season as well as winning the Copa America alongside Lionel Messi in Brazil in June.

Lionel Messi has won the Ballon d'Or six times as against Cristiano Ronaldo's five times. Messi is favourite to win this year's edition having won Copa Del Rey with FC Barcelona and Copa America with Argentina and having scored more goals and assists than any other player this year.
