Dutch forward Steven Bergwijn is reported to be Antonio Conte's first victim after taking over at the London club. Bergwijn was signed by José Mourinho in January 2020 for €30m and has not quite impressed even though he scored a cracking goal on his debut.
A new manager at a club is always going to favour some players while some will fall out of favour. Former manager Nuno Espirito Santo hailed him as a unique talent but the new manager is not finding him as unique as Nuno claimed and could be out of the club in just two years.
Conte sets up his team in a 3-4-1-2 formation and doesn't think the Dutch could fill into any position in the front three hence deeming him surplus to requirements and with his current market value at around €22m, Tottenham will accept less than what they paid for him 22 months ago.
He currently earns a weekly wage of £73,000 at Tottenham or £3.8m per season and if he's sold Conte is sure to get a decent player that fits into his plan that will be tempted by the salary.
