Christian Pulisic ended the match with mixed feelings. On the one hand, happy because he scored a goal for Chelsea again. On the other hand, sad because his team suffered one of the worst defeats in recent years. Because West Bromwich Albion made the big blow on the road at Stamford Bridge and beat Thomas Tuchel's coaches 5-2.

The expulsion of Brazilian Thiago Silva in the 29th minute, shortly after his American teammate Christian Pulisic opened the scoring (at 27 minutes), totally disrupted the Chelsea defense, which had only conceded two goals in 14 games with Tuchel. The Brazilian forward of West Bromwich Albion, Matheus Pereira, took advantage of the numerical superiority generated by the expulsion of his compatriot to score two goals almost in a row in the first half discount (at 47 and 49 minutes).

Irishman Callum Robinson, who would also score a double, made it 3-1 in the 63rd minute, then closed the score (91 minutes), with Senegalese Mbaye Diagne scoring the fourth goal for his team (68) in between. Chelsea went so far as to score a second goal, through Mason Mount in the 71st minute, although that goal, which meant 4-2 at the time, didn't seem to give the Blues much hope either.

Chelsea, defeated for the first time in ten Premier League games, remains in fourth place, but West Ham and Tottenham, two and three points behind, could surpass it if they win their Monday and Sunday games against Leicester and Newcastle respectively.
