The whole world came together in thoughts and prayers for Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen after he suffered a cardiac arrest in the Euro 2020 group stage match against Finland on June 12 forcing the match to be paused and restarted the same day which ended in a 1-0 loss for Denmark.

Eriksen returned to his club Inter Milan for the first time in August after being discharged from the hospital but was not cleared by the Italian League medical board due to having an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator ICD which the league doesn't permit such players to play.

It is now reported he would move away from Italy if he is to continue his playing career, with the Dutch league a possible destination as such is allowed there. Football contracts, unless stated otherwise, continue to pay even in case of injuries and other health conditions until they expire or terminated.

Eriksen, who earns £163,000 per week, has been out of action for about 20 weeks now and has pocketed about £3.2m despite not playing. Italian tabloid Corriere dello Sport reported that FIFA will bear a part of his wages as his medical emergency occurred during a FIFA calendar.
