Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is reported to be an admirer of English midfielder Declan Rice who was also wanted by his predecessor Frank Lampard. The midfielder is a former academy player of the Blues and was released at the age of 14 to join London rivals West Ham.

He has developed into one of the finest English midfielders in the last three seasons. Frank Lampard was an admirer of the 22year old midfielder and the way he approached the Chelsea board to make it happen was one of the reasons that got him fired at the club.

The Blues will face a tough battle if they are to secure the signing of their man. Manchester United are also reported to be interested in the young English midfielder who is valued at £100m by West Ham. Their reluctance to bend on the transfer fee was why he never joined Chelsea during the 2020 summer transfer window.

Thomas Tuchel took charge at Chelsea on January 25, 2020 when club legend and former player Frank Lampard was sacked at the club. He guided the club to a top four finish from ninth position and won the UEFA Champions League as well as the UEFA Super Cup. The Blues are currently top of the Premier League table and will hope to win the league they last won in 2017.
