German defender Antonio Rudiger may be forced to leave Chelsea and head back to Germany with Bayern Munich if the club are unwilling to meet his wage demands for a new contract. The two parties are yet to agree, with the club only willing to offer 70% of what the defender demands, leading to a stall in the contract talks.

The tough defender joined the Blues from Italian club Roma in 2017 under manager Antonio Conte and signed a five year contract that pays him £100,000 per week. He would be out of contract at the end of the current season and talks over a new contract have not progressed well due to disagreement on wage demands.

Rudiger is reportedly asking for a new contract and a salary rise of £200,000 but the club is not willing to pay him more than £140,000 a week. He has been a rejuvenated player under German manager Thomas Tuchel after being frozen out of the team by Frank Lampard.

German club Bayern Munich are reported to be interested in signing him for free when his contract expires. He is not ruling out the possibility though he says he's happy at Chelsea. “My future? I feel good at Chelsea where I am now, so that fits. FC Bayern interest honors me because that shows that I’ve done a few things right recently”.
