Lionel Messi's future in Barcelona is not yet resolved. And to know if he is going to continue in the club that saw him born soccer, a lot will have to see what happens in the upcoming elections for president that will take place in the coming days. And one of the candidates in these elections left a harsh phrase: "if I don't win, Messi will not continue".

And in that context, Joan Laporta was blunt with a phrase that goes around the world because it gives indications of what may happen: "Messi will value the proposal that we will make to him. I am convinced that if the other candidates win, Messi will not continue in Barça, if I win, it will continue. He was not happy with Freixa's stage as manager ".

Along the same lines, he added: "He is not guided only by money. He wants a competitive team to win. I am convinced that he will listen to my proposal. And I am also almost convinced that if another wins, he will not stay".

To close, Laporta concluded: "Messi has a very important return. It represents 30% of income and costs around 8%. Besides, the best thing is the emotional and sporting return, with everything he has given us. That is my great objective, and they are still two or three years old. I have a great relationship with Leo and the proposal I make will be valued. If I don't win, I'm sure Leo won't continue at Barça".

The truth is that next March 7, Barcelona will experience a historic day because the club will have a new president and everything indicates that Messi's future will begin to be defined there.
