Can he join the rivals? See why Cristiano Ronaldo wants to move to Manchester City

Portugal Captain, Cristiano Ronaldo might be making a shock move to Manchester City this summer. The 5-time Ballon d'Or winner was offered to the Citizens by his agent, Jorge Mendes. Ronaldo is currently with Italian giants,  Juventus but has less than 12 months left on his current contract. 

However, moving to Pep Guardiola's City side would cause a lot of raised eyebrows just across the city at the Old Trafford. Ronaldo is regarded as one of the best players and best exports from the club. He was also successful at the club during a 5-year stint, winning the UEFA Champions League, three consecutive English Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup. Individually, he also won the first of his 5 Ballon d'Or titles while at the club. 

With less than 12 months on his contract with the Old Lady and the increasing possibility that he might not be offered an extension, Ronaldo is said to be open to offers across Europe. City, who are in need of a proven goalscorer, might be tempted on bringing on the prolific marksman for a cut price. It is expected that a fee in the region of £25m would force the Bianconeri to sell the player. 

Ronaldo scored 36 goals across all competitions for Juventus last season and was also the highest goalscorer at the just-concluded Euro 2020 with 5 goals. Thus, the forward believes that he still has a lot to give at the highest level and wants to play in a competitive league. Moving to City would also almost guarantee him trophies. The Portuguese captain wants to chase down another UEFA Champions League title and a record-equalling 6th Ballon d'Or title.
