Philippe Coutinho will always be part of the history of Fútbol Club Barcelona. Not for his goals, assists or importance in the achievement of a title, but for the opposite. The Brazilian midfielder is the most expensive recruitment of all time in the Barça club and since his arrival in 2018 he has failed to demonstrate why he cost almost 160 million euros between fixed and variable.

It is quite a problem for the Catalan institution, which wants to get rid of it in the summer. According to information from the newspaper 'Sport', Barcelona, with its new president Joan Laporta, has decided to sell Coutinho, a player who on the salary scale is only behind Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann and who has contributed little or nothing in the current season. He has been injured for more than three months and they do not want to see him again.

In Barcelona they know that there is no way to recover the millions of euros they spent on the signing of Coutinho. However, they hope to earn around 50 million euros with which they would cover the debt they have with Liverpool for the transfer of the Brazilian in winter 2018. From any point of view, it is a business in which the Catalans will lose out. The aforementioned source explains that Coutinho's departure would allow Barcelona to save 13 million euros in token, which would serve to pay for the services of a new center-forward like Erling Haaland from Dortmund.

It should be remembered that Coutinho was very close to signing for Chelsea last summer. However, the Londoners backed down and the former Liverpool footballer stayed behind to work under Koeman. The Dutch coach gave the Brazilian several opportunities in the first months of the season. However, the injuries became a torture that to this day has him off the playing field.
