Andrea Pirlo's controversial phrase about Weston McKennie

Weston McKennie's the big appearance in Juventus. Within a season that's far from being one of the best, as he ranks far in the Serie A standings and at a disadvantage in the knockout against Porto in the Champions League, the American midfielder manages to stand out. However, in the last hours Andrea Pirlo, his coach at the Turin club, gave a press conference in which he said a controversial phrase about McKennie.

In the run-up to the match against Lazio, on the 26th date of the competition, Pirlo spoke to the press and, among all the issues he touched on, he gave his opinion on the present of the young American promise. "We chose him because of his characteristics. We have been following him since he was at Schalke, so we knew about his ability", Pirlo began praising.

Although McKennie took a big step by staying with the champions of Italy, Pirlo mentioned that so far he hasn't achieved the best in his career. "Now the deal that has been made permanent should be seen as a starting point, because if he believes that he has succeeded, it is not the right way to move forward", argued the rookie coach.
