The 2021 season of Major League Soccer (MLS) is about to end in its regular phase, and with it, the tradition of each year appears, with the presentation of the lists of candidates of the awards to the most outstanding players and coaches of the American league.

For this contest, the Goalkeeper of the Year, Best Defender, Best Reinforcement, Best Comeback, Best Young Player and Best Coach will be awarded, in an instance where only certain representatives of the media, team executives and the footballers themselves.

Within the entire number of players nominated for the MLS End of Year Awards 2021, there are five nominated Mexican footballers, where the presence of Javier Chicharito Hernández and Javier Eduardo La Chofis López stand out, both in two categories.

While the one born in Guadalajara has his name among the candidates for the Return of the Year and the Most Valuable Player, thanks to his 14 goals in this contest; The former Chivas player is also among those named to the MVP, in addition to applying for the Best Reinforcement of 2021.

Other Mexican footballers nominated for the MLS 2021 awards are: David Ochoa, for Best Goalkeeper; Julián Araujo, for Best Defender, and Efraín Álvarez, for Best Young Player, along with both of those mentioned above; while Gonzalo Pineda, for his work with Atlanta United, was nominated for the Best Coach of the Year.
