The world's best player managed to change the direction of mass media since last week. Pandemic has stopped being in the headlines when Lionel Messi announced his departure from his full life career home club: FC Barcelona. With Josep Guardiola seated on the substition bench, the Argentinean would decide to go to Manchester City for next three seasons. But also, this would take him to the MLS to end his career at New York City FC.
Founded in 2013, the American Citizens made their debut in MLS at 2015. FC Barcelona is a team that in the past had strong connections with the New York club. Former Blaugrana David Villa was his first captain when they started playing at US soccer and also scored the first goal in team's history against St. Mirren in an international friendly.
Messi would be the second one to join the Newyorkers but anxiety in fans must wait. The negotiation with Manchester City seems to be a $120M transfer fee plus Bernardo Silva, Gabriel Jesus and Eric García with a contract for five seasons. This five seasons will be divided firstly in Manchester City until 2023 where finally he would join the MLS. It only remains the official confirmation.
