After several months, Federico Valverde admitted that when he was chasing Morata from behind, he heard Sergio Ramos tell him to “kill him”. Federico Valverde automatically caught up with him and knocked him down from behind, preventing Atletico de Madrid from winning the match on the last play. That move by Valverde gave Real Madrid the Cup and him the MVP award.
