Dutch midfielder Donny Van de Beek was part of the Ajax team of 2019 that made it to the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League and were within seconds from reaching the final but narrowly eliminated by Tottenham through a Lucas Moura hat-trick.

Top clubs across Europe went in search of players in the team and many of them departed. Matthijs De Ligt joined Juventus, Hakim Ziyech joined Chelsea, Frenkie De Jong joined Barcelona and Donny Van de Beek joined Manchester United, all have suffered similar fortunes, not living up to expectations but Van de Beek has had it worse.

He has failed to impress manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and has found it very difficult to have playing time at United. The last time he completed a match was in November 2020. Juventus are said to be interested in signing him but their former player Dimas believes he is not what they needed.

"At this moment it is better for Juve to acquire an experienced midfielder who can immediately influence the team”, Dimas told Italian outlet TuttoJuve. "Risking it with young players or players who do not play at other clubs does not seem a good solution due to their current form.”
