The Italian Football Federation started the process for the Olympic stadium in the city of Rome to be named after Paolo Rossi. Gabriele Gravina, president of the federation, confirmed: "We have given availability, but it does not depend on us. It is not easy, considering the legal nature of the entity that manages it, although it would be a great gesture".

For this to happen, the approval of the Italian Olympic Committee, the original owner of the stadium in the capital city, is needed. from the federation they trust that he will give the yes. Paolo Rossi is an important figure and the image of obtaining the third World Cup, in 1982 in Spain, which also earned him the Ballon d'Or that year.

Emerging from Juventus, Paolo Rossi made his football debut at age 16 in Como, also from northern Italy. Later he was transferred to Vicenza, where he spent three seasons (from 1977 to 1979) always being a scorer. After a year at Perugia in 1979-80 he is suspended in a case where the Lazio and AC Milan clubs are relegated for fixing matches.

He returned to Juventus in 1982 only to train and prepare for the World Cup, where he would shine and shout champion, already qualified to play. After the World Cup, Rossi has already signed for Juve and has been winning everything for three years: Scudettos, Italian Cup, UEFA Cup and the Champions League. He then played a year at Milan and another at Hellas Verona before retiring in 1987.
