Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo are two of the best players in the world and are the most crucial players in Real Madrid these past couple of years. The pair will be playing in another Champions League Final for Real Madrid this Saturday against Borussia Dortmund at Wembley Stadium. Although they have the opportunity to end the season with the Champions League trophy, they will want to win the Copa America trophy with Brazil in the summer. If the pair win the Champions League and the Copa America these next few weeks, they will be in an exclusive group of players who have also done it before. Claudio Bravo won the Champions League and Copa America in the same year, in 2015, when he won the Champions League with FC Barcelona against Juventus and Copa America with the Chile national team against Argentina. Alisson Becker and Roberto Firmino did it in 2019 when they won the Champions League with Liverpool and won the Copa America with Brazil.
Only a couple of players have won the Champions League and an international tournament in the same year. The latest players to make that achievement were Jorginho and Emerson, who won the 2021 Champions League with Chelsea and then won the 2021 EUROS with the Italian national team. Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr. would be the third paring in South America to complete the achievement.
Rodrygo and Vinicius are as motivated as ever to win another Champions League trophy with Real Madrid, and when asked if there is lots of ego in the locker room, the number 11 of Real Madrid denies it. Rodrygo said, “Ego in the locker room? For us, the young players, it is easy, because if I see Modric, 38 years old, with five Champions Leagues and a Ballon d’Or running from the corner to the box, how am I not going to run? There is no ego in our locker room.”
Brazil is one of the favorites to win the Copa America this summer, and the Real Madrid duo of Vinicius and Rodrygo are the key players for the team. Brazil will have two friendlies before the Copa America starts. Brazil will face Mexico on June 8th and then the United States on June 12th. Brazil is in Group D, along with Colombia, Paraguay, and Costa Rica.
