Garnacho’s decision after Copa America with Argentina that worries Manchester United

The Copa America 2024 is soon approaching, and the current World Champions, Argentina, look to bring the best squad possible to defend their Copa America title that they won in 2021 in Brazil. Argentina released the 29-man list for the friendlies in preparation for the Copa America, and Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho is on the list. Three players from the squad will not be included in the final 26-man list for the Copa America, but Garnacho seems set to be part of the final squad. Argentine journalist Gaston Edul reports that Garnacho could have a busy summer as he could potentially play in the Summer Olympics Games as well after Copa America. Javier Mascherano already spoke with Garnacho so that he can also be in the Olympic Games. They are already making deals with Manchester United to try to make it happen, but the club may be worried that the player could get injured or fatigued.

The Summer Olympics football tournament starts on July 24th and ends on August 10th. The Copa America starts on June 20th and ends on July 15th. Argentina is in Group B, which will take on Morocco, Iraq, and Ukraine. Argentina will first play Morocco on July 24th; their second group stage game will be against Iraq on July 27th, and their final group stage game will be against Ukraine.

The senior Argentina national team will have two friendlies before the Copa America, and their opponents will be Ecuador and Guatemala. The first game of the Copa America for Argentina will be against Canada at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The second group stage game will be against Chile at the MetLife Stadium. The final group stage game will be played against Peru at the Hard Rock Stadium. The group stage games run from June 20th to June 29th.

Garnacho’s real goal in the Copa America with Argentina

Garnacho will play in his first international tournament with Argentina in the 2024 Copa America, and while he hopes to win the trophy for his country, he also hopes to perform well and impress Manchester United. According to Daily Mail’s Chris Wheeler, Garancho may look for a new contract if he features prominently at the Copa America in the US this summer. He signed a contract last year that extends until 2028, but he would possibly want a wage increase.
