Di Maria’s plan to play with Messi at Inter Miami after Copa America, Beckham must accept it to make the dream come true

Inter Miami has slowly built a great team in the MLS, and Lionel Messi seems to be the heart of the team. Now, the MLS club will go for another close friend of Messi’s: Angel Di Maria. The Argentine winger has been crucial for the Argentina national team and has formed a great partnership and friendship with Messi over the years. Now, Inter Miami could soon sign, but first, David Beckham will need to follow one decision to make the signing possible. According to A Bola, Di Maria’s plan after the Copa America will be to return to Rosario Central for six months. In January 2025, Di Maria will then sign for Inter Miami after playing for a few months with his boyhood club.

Di Maria played at Benfica last season in the Portuguese league, and the Argentine winger’s contract will expire this summer. He played his last season in Europe if he does go play for Rosario Central after the Copa America with Argentina. The Argentine is 36 years old, and his time could soon be up, but a reunion with Messi at Inter Miami will make him continue to play for a little longer.

In the 2023/2024 season, Di Maria played a total of 48 matches across all competitions with Benfica. He scored 17 goals and provided 15 assists this recent season, where the player and Benfica finished 2nd in the Portuguese league with 80 points after 34 games played. Their record in the league was 25 wins, five draws, and four losses.

Inter Miami are first in the Eastern Conference with 34 points after 16 games played. Their next two games will be at home at the Chase Stadium against Atlanta United and St. Louis City. Messi is expected to play in these matches as he is set to leave to go play with the Argentina national team in Copa America next month.
