Bad news for Inter Miami as Luis Suarez is going to Copa America, these are the key games he’ll be missing

Luis Suarez has been exceptional for Inter Miami so far this season, which earned him a call-up for the provisional list of Uruguay for the Copa America 2024. Punto Penal reports that Suarez will indeed be selected in the final list of the Uruguay national team for the Copa America, which means he will be out next month for Inter Miami. Lionel Messi was certain to play in the Copa America with the Argentina national team, but many weren’t sure if Suarez was going to play in the tournament. Now, with him being called up, Inter Miami has a huge problem next month as they will be missing both their key players in the attack. Copa America runs from June 20th to July 14th, which means Suarez could miss up to seven MLS games. Inter Miami will have three away games during the Copa America, taking on Nashville SC, Charlotte FC, and Cincinnati FC.

Suarez and Uruguay are in Group C in the Copa America, along with USA, Panama, and Bolivia. Before the tournament, Uruguay will have two friendly matches to prepare for. Uruguay will face Costa Rica on May 31st in the Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica, and then they will face Mexico on June 5th at the Empower Field at Mile High. Inter Miami has two games this week: on Wednesday against Atlanta United and on Saturday, June 1st, against St. Louis City. The St. Louis City game will likely be Suarez’s last match before he joins the Uruguay national team.

Uurguay’s first game in the Copa America will be against Panama on June 23rd at the Hard Rock Stadium. On June 27th, their second group stage game is against Bolivia at the MetLife Stadium. The last group stage game is against the United States on July 1st at Arrowhead Stadium.

Suarez is playing his first season with Inter Miami, and he has already become one of the most crucial players in the squad. Suarez has played 14 matches in the MLS, scoring 11 goals and providing five assists. He scored two goals and provided two assists in four CONCACAF Champions Cup games. That put Suarez at 13 goals and seven assists in 18 matches across all competitions this season so far.
