The head coach of the Brazil national team, Tité has revealed his anger at the way the controversy between the Argentine national team and the Brazilian health authorities was handled. Officials of the health authority, ANVISA, stormed the pitch at the Corinthians Arena in Sao Paulo on Sunday while the match was in its 6th minute. Due to this interruption, the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying match was initially abandoned and then subsequently suspended.

ANVISA alleges that the Argentine quartet of Emiliano Martinez, Emiliano Buendia, Giovanni Lo Celso and Christian Romero gave false declarations during their statements before entering Brazil. According to Brazilian Covid-19 protocols, the United Kingdom is on the red list of countries with rampant Covid-19 cases. This means travellers who have visited the country within 14 days must go into mandatory quarantine before being allowed entry into Brazil. However, the Argentine quartet is alleged to have left out the United Kingdom as part of the countries they've been to despite all four of them plying their trade in the English Premier League.

After the match was interrupted by ANVISA officials, Brazil coach, Tité was said to have been very upset with the out-turn of events. It is rumoured that the tactician believes the health authorities could have taken action way before the match and arrested the Argentine players if need be. He faulted why ANVISA had to wait till the match had gone underway at the Corinthians Arena before attempting to detain the players.

It is yet to be known what will be the next step for the suspended match. World football governing body, FIFA, has released a statement stating that they will investigate the incidents that transpired and take a decision on the match. It is possible that the governing body rules against Argentina, telling them to forfeit the match with 3 points and 3 goals awarded to Brazil.
