The unusual country that will be part of the CONCACAF Golden Cup

Zone's international more relevant tournament is the Golden Cup. Usually, United States and Mexico are the two favourite teams to lift the trophy. A new format will be introduced next year in which also a rich country from other continent would be invited: Qatar. The Asian team will host 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Twelve associate members will be the ones to compete for three tickets into the valued CONCACAF trophy. Preliminary stage would be from July 2 to July 6. After this elimination round, group stage will be held with 13 teams that are already qualified: United States, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Curazao, El Salvador, Granada, Jamaica, Martinica, Panama, Surinam and the invited Qatar.

First CONCACAF championship was in 1963. At 1991 received the Golden Cup name. The United States of America has won six times the title. Last time was in 2017. However, Mexico is the country which more titles has with 11; they are the former champions.
