The life of the footballer on the pitch is relatively short, their careers are short-lived and after retirement, new challenges begin. Some choose to get away from the spotlight, others to start new businesses, but there are also those who decide to continue linked to this sport and do so as coaches.

Various former players are preparing to coach from the bench, but not all have had the joy of returning to the teams where they started or shone in their stage as footballers. Here we present you this count of players who, after hanging up their boots, served as coaches and football brought them back home, where they once left their mark in a special way.

The list is truly endless, but many names had already been idols as players and managed to repeat the feat as coaches. The most important are:

- Gennaro Gattuso (Milan)

- Marcelo Gallardo (River Plate)

- Clarence Seedorf (Milan)

- Luis Henrique (Barcelona)

- Diego Simeone (Atlético Madrid)

- Zinedine Zidane (Real Madrid)

- Josep Guardiola (Barcelona)

- Xavi Hernández (Barcelona)?
