AS Roma could reportedly miss out on their transfer target in Arsenal's Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka unless they meet the asking price of the Gunners for the midfielder wanted by Jose Mourinho.

Arsenal are asking for a price of £20m and the deal was said to be on the verge of competition days ago but has stalled according to Il Tempo, who says AS Roma wants to pay less to what Arsenal are asking for.

José Mourinho took over the club in May, marking a return to Italian football after ten years and has out Xhaka as one of his transfer priorities but things could go the other way unless an agreement is reached.

The midfielder joined Arsenal from German club Borussia Monchengladbach in 2016 and has been a regular at the club since then having played under legendary manager Arsene Wenger, Unai Emery, interim Freddie Ljungberg and current boss Mikel Arteta.

The 28year old plays intentional football for Switzerland despite also being eligible to play for Albania. He captained the country to a last 8 finish at the just concluded Euro 2020.
