Toronto FC leads in the East, is ahead in the race to win the MLS Supporters' Shield and all of this is happening just at the same time that the Reds are playing their best football of the season. They are definitely a serious contender for the MLS Cup. Moreover, they are the first (and, by now, only) team classified to the 2020 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs. All this is Gregg Vanney's work. And Bill Manning, Toronto FC's president, thinks he deserve to be considered for the USMNT's coaching position.

As weird as it may sound, Manning seems willing to loss the coach that took the Reds to the top in 2017 -and have them in the same way right now- if that means that he is able to fulfill his dream of becoming the USMNT's head coach. Another condition to take into account is that Vanney has yet to sign a new contract with Toronto, because his actual contract expires at the end of this year.

Manning told in a interview last night that he had a glass of wine on Sunday night to chat with Vanney about his contract situation. Toronto's president said that he and Vanney are in the same page about the numbers and just need to solve some details. The Reds aren't worried about losing his coach to another franchise. But it's different when it comes to the national team.

Manning made it simple: the future of the USA team should be related to Gregg Vanney. The executive said that, if not now, then the next time that the USMNT's team change of coach, Vanney should be selected to be in charge. Most probable, Vanney will resign with the Reds. But if the US Soccer Association approached to him, Toronto FC will understand and let him go.
