The banner, as viralized by social networks, has been placed near the residence of Rafa Benítez, who has lived in the city since his past in Liverpool. It has been precisely this stage of his career that is causing him problems as his signing for Everton, Liverpool's rival club in the English city, is rumored. A few weeks ago other banners with threatening messages for the Spanish coach were hung in the outskirts of Goodison Park.

The Liverpool police are aware of what happened and have initiated an investigation with the aim of clarifying the origin of these threats to the Spanish coach. "We can confirm that police are investigating reports of a threatening banner at a location in Caldy, today Monday, June 28," a Merseyside police statement read. The police force has asked for citizen collaboration to clarify what happened.

The banner, according to the police, was not placed in Rafa Benítez's place of residence, but in a nearby house. "Due to the football language used, we suspect that it was directed at Rafa Benítez, but whoever posted the message left it outside the wrong house." states the Merseyside Police Inspector.
