Fans, politicians and health authorities asked UEFA that the final of the Champions League, scheduled for Saturday 29 May, be transferred from Turkey to England, which will contribute to the two contending teams: Manchester City and Chelsea. "It would be a logical change to have this final at Wembley and offer next year's to Istanbul," said Clive Efford, a member of the Parliamentary Committee for English Sport.

The reasons to support the change, in addition to the presence of two English teams in the final, are the health restrictions imposed in Turkey by the Covid-19 pandemic, which would prevent the transfer of fans to Istanbul. Despite the initiative promoted after the qualification of Manchester City and Chelsea to the definition of the most important club tournament in Europe, UEFA plans to keep the Turkish headquarters.

The entity already had to transfer the definition of the Champions 2019-20 from the Ataturk Stadium in Istanbul to the Stadio da Luz in Lisbon due to the Covid-19 pandemic. City, which has just eliminated Paris Saint-Germain, and Chelsea, who left Real Madrid on the way, will animate the third English final of the Champions: Chelsea itself lost to Manchester United in the 2007-08 edition and Liverpool beat Tottenham Hotspur in the 2018-19 season.
