Julián Álvarez is River Plate and Argentina's new diamond, the latest revelation that will surely soon be seen in Europe. He has been a sensation and after the Millionarios came out champions with dates in hand, the 'Spider' has great expectations for the future.

The 21-year-old striker Julián Álvarez is already a reality in Marcelo Gallardo's River Plate and settled in with 17 goals and 6 assists in the Argentine Superliga, taking over the starting lineup and edging out other strikers such as Agustín Fontana, who arrived as a reinforcement.

Who is Julián Álvarez?

Julián Álvarez is a player who can play as a center forward and also move on the flanks. He emerged from the youth teams of Atlético Calchín and Club Atlético Atalaya, where he took his first steps as a player. It was until 2015 that he joined the U-20 of River Plate until in 2019 he became part of the first team.

His rise has been rapid, Álvarez currently has a value close to 22.5 million dollars, a figure that will undoubtedly arise when River Plate decides to sell him. Manchester City, Real Madrid, and FC Barcelona are already on his trail, according to The Guardian, Marca, and Mundo Deportivo.

Perhaps the great pending of Julián Álvarez is the Argentina national team, as he has participated with Lionel Scaloni for five games, but so far he has not scored goals or assisted. However, he is expected to be one of the surprises to be in the Qatar 2022 World Cup with the Albiceleste.

Manchester City are close to signing the Argentinian forward

The arrival of Julian Alvarez to Manchester City for just under 20 million euros is expected to be formalized in the upcoming summer transfer window, according to the latest reports.

If the last details of his transfer are finalized, the Manchester City team would get the player, however,  that would not be enough for the Sky Blues, as they would continue looking for another striker who is already consolidated. The English club would have other options such as Erling Håland and Harry Kane.

For the time being, Manchester City would be about to finalize the signing of Julian Alvarez with the possibility of keeping him on loan in another squad until he is ready to move to the Old Continent. He could be considered as the replacement for Sergio 'Kun' Agüero.
