Riyad Mahrez will play in Saudi Arabia. The Argentine striker finally confirmed his fate for the following season and confirms the suspicions that had been floating around for months. The Algerian will be with Al Ahli of the Saudi Pro League and will have a significant salary. Now, Pep Guardiola finally confesses the real reason why the player could not continue in the team.

The Algerian arrived at Manchester City in 2018 and won a total of 11 titles with the English club. However, in the last season his role in the club was not the same. Pep Guardiola started putting him on as a substitute, but he still managed to score 15 goals in more than 40 games all season.

Despite this, Manchester City could do little to retain him. In an exclusive interview with the club's media, Pep Guardiola finally revealed what really happened with Riyad Mahrez and his departure for the Arab league. The transfer ended up closing for more than 30 million euros, an amount that helps the financial Fair Play of the citizen team.

What did Pep Guardiola say about Mahrez leaving?

“Saudi Arabia has changed the market. A few months ago when Cristiano [Ronaldo] was the only one to go, no one thought that many top players would play there. In future there will be more and that's why clubs need to be aware. Riyad [Mahrez] got an incredible offer and we could not say don't do it”
