After flirting with a renewal at Real Madrid or a possible future at Manchester United, Karim Benzema was finally presented in style with Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia. The French player arrives to become one of the highest paid players in history with 200 million per year.

The future of the 35-year-old French striker, who is already the current Ballon d'Or winner, had three possible avenues. Real Madrid, Saudi Arabia or a surprising destination in the Premier League with Manchester United. However, the player ended up deciding to join the Arabian team for the following season.

After his farewell to Real Madrid a few days ago, Karim Benzema revealed the reasons why he chose Saudi Arabia. During an interview with the official media of his new team, the Frenchman gave explanations about his decision.

"I am a Muslim and it is a Muslim country. I have always wanted to live there. I have already been to Saudi Arabia and I feel good there. The most important thing is that it is a Muslim country, dear and beautiful. When I spoke to my family about my move to Saudi Arabia, they were all very happy and here I am, for me it's where I want to be," the striker commented.

Will Karim Benzema ever play in the Premier League?

The reality is that the French striker's future could end up in Arabian soccer, considering the factor of his age and the tranquility he wants to enjoy in the coming years. On the other hand, if he ever decides to return to Europe, it would be to play for Lyon, the club of which he is a fan and where he started his professional career.
