Manchester City still has one pending title that it has not won to complete the great feat of winning all possible titles in one year. This is the Club World Cup. The citizen team must compete in this tournament that brings together the champions of all the conferences in an 8-team direct elimination tournament, where the European champion usually starts from the semifinals. However, there is the option that Manchester City will face Boca Juniors at some point, possible American champions if the Libertadores wins.

Julian Alvarez is a forward who came to Manchester City from River Plate, a historic team from Argentina. However, River Plate is Boca Juniors' rival, so a possible confrontation is an extra motivation for Julián Alvarez, who already knows what it means to play against said club. In fact, Julian Alvarez already knows what it's like to beat Boca Juniors in a continental final, when he won the Copa Libertadores against them in 2018.

In a note with the official City channel, Julián Álvarez was definitive about the chance of his team facing the team led by Jorge Almirón in a head-to-head match for the most important title. “If Boca conquered the Libertadores there would be a hypothetical match in the Club World Cup final between Boca and City... What would this match mean to you? Tell us,” one of the journalists asked.

What did Julian Alvarez say about it?

The Spider, very calmly, responded: “Well, we are talking about possible things that can happen. Let's hope it doesn't happen, but if we have to face them, we will go as always, with the same respect and everything. Let's hope my team wins." The one born in Calchín, Córdoba, already faced Xeneize in a final at the Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid, where River won the 2018 Copa Libertadores after defeating its historic rival 3-1.
