Manchester United is in a rebuilding process. The Old Trafford team is significantly positioned as one of the key teams with important reinforcements, but has yet to define the new positions on the board. During the last hours, the profile of the coach who would join the team in an important way this season has been revealed.
Jean-Claude Blanc is an executive with an outstanding career in the sports field, currently serving as Executive Director of INEOS Sport. His role encompasses oversight of a broad sporting portfolio including football, Formula 1, sailing, cycling, rugby and athletics. He works closely with leading figures in the sporting world, such as Dave Brailsford, who is also being linked to the Red Devils.
Despite his executive role, it is expected that Blanc will not directly assume the execution and management of sporting activities, as the arrival of a Sports Director is anticipated with the entry of Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Throughout his career, he has played key roles in increasing INEOS' investments in teams such as Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1, OGC Nice, FC Lausanne Sport, Racing Club Abidjan and the INEOS Grenadiers cycling team.
In a statement, PSG explained that this change occurs "in a context of continuous transformation" of the club and "sincerely" thanked the contribution of Blanc, 59 years old, who will embark "on a new professional challenge in 2023." According to L'Equipe, the executive accepted an offer from the INEOS group, which controls Nice in France. Blanc has served throughout the entity's Qatari era, which began in 2011. Manchester United confirmed Richard Arnold's departure from the club as chief executive, leaving the club 16 years later. Given this, Patrick Stewart will be in charge of assuming the role on an interim basis in what they point to a permanent CEO.
