Manchester City’s manager Pep Guardiola surprised the fans and the media in the last few hours by giving a shocking message after his team’s 4-0 win against Fluminense in the FIFA Club World Cup which granted the Citizen the conquest of the title and a new success in the Catalan manager’s career at the club.

The new title is the 16th trophy of Pep Guardiola’s managerial reign at Manchester City and the first FIFA Club World Cup in the club’s history, which has been impressively enlarged since the arrival of the Catalan manager to the club in 2016, which has been pivotal to dominate English, European and World football in the last few years.

The conquest of the FIFA Club World Cup meant the fifth trophy for the manager in 2023, and that led Guardiola to give an emotional message in the after game press conference, which would have saddened the Manchester City fans, as it sounded as a farewell message of their coach, who revealed some of his plans for the future of his managerial career.

His words left the door open to his exit from the club

The manager confessed having closed a chapter of eight incredible years with the Citizen with an impressive message. “I would like to say we had the feeling we would close the chapter, we won all the titles, there’s nothing else to win, I had a feeling the job was done, it was over”, he explained. His words left the door open to his potential departure from the club in the next few months, as the challenges at the institution would have been finally completed and the manager could be ready to announce his new destination at the end of the current season.
