Pep Guardiola and Manchester City are preparing for another UEFA Champions League final, two years after losing in their first opportunity. Now, the Citizens face a complicated Nerazurri squad led by Simone Inzaghi. For the citizens, a defeat is out of the question on June 10 in Istanbul.

Manchester City will be hoping to come away from the game with their first European title. To do so, they will need the best of each of their first-choice players. However, the request of a player who is not usual to the Spanish coach is surprising, as he wants to have minutes in the final of the tournament.

The player in question is midfielder Kalvin Phillips. The player arrived as a reinforcement of the team in the summer and has not been able to get the expected amount of minutes due to the important level of all the pieces in the midfield. Now, the player surprises with his most recent request to coach Pep Guardiola.

In an interview with TNT Brasil, Kalvin Phillips commented on what his dream final in Istanbul would be like. There, he confessed that he wants to get minutes.
"For me, we started very well, we scored one or two goals very early. And then, in the 65th or 70th minute, we concede another goal, and then Pep [Guardiola] decides to change some players and it's my turn to play."

Will Kalvin Phillips play in the Champions League final?

At the moment, the English midfielder is not expected to start the match, however, if the match comes to need him, Guardiola would not hesitate to use him for the game. On the other hand, if the match is decided in favor of City early, Pep Guardiola would also be encouraged to use the player, considering the affection that the players have for him.
