One of the great players that Manchester City has had in recent years is precisely Gabriel Jesus. The Brazilian striker arrived as a promising soccer player, but now, he finally confesses the real reason why he left the Citizen team for Arsenal and it is that Pep Guardiola would have made him cry in a game.
The Brazil international worked with Guardiola for five years at the Etihad Stadium before joining Arsenal last summer, a move he said made him feel "free". Speaking to the "Denilson show" podcast, Jesus said the turning point in his City career came during their home game against Paris Saint-Germain in November 2021, where he was relegated to the bench.
"There was a Champions League game, PSG, at home, where he put [Oleksandr] Zinchenko on as a false 9. Crazy," Jesus said. "The day before he [Zinchenko] didn't even use him [Zinchenko] in training, he had put me in as a striker.... Zinchenko even joked with me: 'I felt bad for you that day. After this situation, Gabriel Jesus confessed to crying over Pep Guardiola's decision not to place him under any justification.
According to Gabriel Jesus himself, Pep was the cause of his crying before the match. "Two hours before the match, there is a team talk, the team eats, rests 30 minutes and goes to the match. He told us the team... I didn't even eat. I went straight to the room, crying, I called my mom to talk, 'I want to go. I'm going home, because he put him [Zinchenko] in, and he didn't put me in. He put a left back in there. I went crazy.
