Major League Soccer looks set to once again make a big splash in the market after the signing of Lionel Messi with Inter Miami. Now, it surprises by bringing another player who came to shine in Europe, mainly in English soccer. This is a player who has already confirmed his arrival as a new franchise player in the American league.

Minnesota United FC officially announced the signing of striker Teemu Pukki as a franchise player in a contract that will run until June 2025, with an option to extend it until December 2025. The MLS transfer window officially opens on July 5. League regulations allow for a maximum number of franchise players per club that can exceed the salary cap.

Pukki is the all-time leading scorer for the Finland national team, and joins Minnesota after playing five seasons with Norwich City in England's Premier League and Championship. In 210 appearances for Norwich, Pukki - 33 - scored 88 goals and recorded 29 assists.  Pukki will fill an international roster spot for the Loons, who are in 12th place in the Western Conference.

What does Minnesota United say about Pukki?

"He's someone who can score goals and I know that if we continue to create the opportunities, as we have this season, there's no doubt he'll do well in this league," said Minnesota United head coach Adrian Heath. "We were pleased to bring him in and be able to integrate him into the group."
