Liverpool FC has been one of the most active clubs in the current transfer market. Both in terms of sales and arrivals, the Anfield club is trying to accommodate its players in the best way possible to avoid what happened last season, when they finished out of the UEFA Champions League places. However, the club is now receiving less than positive news about one of its main targets.

Midfielder Kalvin Phillips, who had shone at Leeds and for whom Manchester City paid a fortune in July last year, could move on. Although he has a contract until 2028 with the Celtic club, the midfielder has had little playing time and would also need to leave in order to regain a starting place in another team.

According to MailSport, Liverpool FC were interested in acquiring his services and even wanted to pay 35 million euros for his signing. However, the player is already notified that for the moment the club would have other priorities and his arrival would be put on the back burner. All this in the midst of the departure of Henderson and Fabinho that made his arrival make even more sense.

Will Phillips stay at Manchester City?

The English midfielder has already established himself as an important part of the team's training sessions and even made the trip to Tokyo with the squad. Pep Guardiola's idea is to see his current condition and given the departures he has had in midfield, he is also aware that he cannot afford to let go of members of his squad without even seeing their functionality first.
