Manchester City achieved a draw with the taste of defeat against Tottenham. Pep Guardiola's team played a game with obvious defensive errors, but it was still enough for them to take the victory. However, some inaccurate refereeing decisions affected the home team. One of the players who was most furious was precisely Haaland, all because of a play that was called incorrectly by the referee.
Erling Haaland was apoplectic after Manchester City were held to a 3-3 draw with Tottenham Hotspur. In the dying embers, referee Simon Hooper controversially refused to play the advantage which could have resulted in a late Jack Grealish winner. Haaland had done well to turn on the halfway line, riding a reckless lunge from Emerson Royal. The Norwegian striker then threaded Grealish through, with the referee initially waving play on. City seemed destined to have a clear one-on-one with Guglielmo Vicario until play was halted for the foul on Haaland.
That made the difference because when the game seemed to take a turn, City closed it out. It was with the goal of Bernardo Silva who had taken the field shortly before in place of Kevin De Bruyne. He arrived in the 68th minute, in a steal from Nathan Ake who extended it to Jack Grealish and this to Haaland. The Norwegian, who first assisted Bernardo Silva, did not have a goal. The Portuguese made a space for himself and shot from the front. And he scored. And he sentenced.
At the end of the game, Haaland is cursing himself after that last controversial action, but the reality is that we have witnessed a real great game. Tremendous exercise of resistance on the part of Tottenham, which they equaled in the 90th minute, a match that had been very difficult for them. Kulusevski's header made it 3-3 and leaves City three points behind leaders Arsenal.
