On Wednesday, Tottenham and Chelsea disputed the first ticket to the EFL Cup final, which was won by the Blues, who won by the minimum (0-1).Tuchel's team was able to build on the first leg win, playing an efficient game and avoiding defensive errors.

Chelsea looked safe in defense

Tuchel, with champions Manchester City away on Saturday, started with a back-four rather than his usual back-three with wing-backs and this alternative shape enabled him to play Werner and Lukaku as twin strikers.

Tuchel's side, with a 2-0 lead from the first match, made further progress in the 18th minute when Rüdiger headed in a great cross from Mount to open the scoring and almost sink the hopes of Conte's team.

Conte's selection surprise was to opt for Gollini in goal. The Italian did not play in the first leg at Chelsea, however, when Spurs were painfully fragile at the back and fortunate to escape with only two goals to make up.

Italian coach could not encourage his players for the second half

With the score at 0-1, the match went to the break and the Italian coach looked for his team to wake up. In the second half Chelsea had Spurs where they wanted them and risked little, prepared to dig in and defend.

The goal scorer, Harry Kane, almost succeeded, but the VAR disallowed a goal that would have put a lot of drama in the last 25 minutes of the match.

Conte put all his weapons on the field, but failed to beat Kepa, who started in the 'blue' goal, in the 90' and in the rest of the tie. Chelsea are the first finalists of the EFL Cup.

Tottenham to extend its winless streak

Chelsea were easily the stronger team over two legs and as they pursue more honors another piece of silver eludes Spurs, without a trophy since 2008. They are out of Europe, out of the Carabao Cup and off the pace in the Premier League.

The FA Cup is all that stands between them and a winless stretch of 15 years, and the Chelsea fans revealed in the misery of their rivals. 'Tottenham Hotspur, it's happened again,' they sang with delight.

The Stamford Bridge side will face either Liverpool or Arsenal, the protagonists of the other match for the title. The first duel between Reds and Gunners will take place this Thursday.

The carabao Cup will be played next February 27.
