According to specialized media, Brenden Aaronson would go to Leeds United FC as this team is fully interested in the player, but there's something holding him back.

The young star of Austrian Bundesliga side Red Bull Salzburg has generated genuine interest from the Premier League side who only have a small hurdle to overcome to obtain the player.

The reason that keeps Aaronson from going to Arsenal

According to reporter San Stejskal of The Athletic, Leeds' £15 million offer was reviewed and rejected by the Austrian side, which presents a challenge for the Ellan Road-based club.

While no further details have been provided on the matter the Red Bulls likely want more money in exchange for the promising youngster to let him go, plus they don't want to let go of a player who has been so important to them

The 21-year-old midfielder has had a great season with Red Bull Salzburg, so it is also understandable that the team is reluctant to let go of one of their most effective players in the squad.

How is Brenden Aaronson doing with RB Salzburg?

New Jersey-born Aaronson has had a phenomenal season with RB Salzburg as he has scored 5 goals and provided 1 assist in the Austrian Bundesliga since leaving Philadelphia 1 year ago, enticing Leeds.

Not only that, Aaronson has been one of the team's driving forces, propelling them to the top of the overall league standings, so it's understandable why the Premier League team is so interested.

And he has also maintained his continuity in results despite the departure of Jesse Marsch to R. B. Leipzig, so his ability to adapt to changes in his context is not in doubt.

Thanks to his help, Red Bull Salzburg made it at the top of the overall table with 45 points, more than 14 points clear of their closest challengers, Sportklub Sturm Graz, who are chasing them with 31 points.

In fact, thanks to his contribution to the team, Red Bull Salzburg is the reigning Austrian Bundesliga champion and will defend the title in 2022

For these reasons, Leeds United FC will likely return for the player, who can be a great asset to their current Premier League campaign.

Is Leeds the perfect opportunity for Aaronson?

While an offer from a Premier League team, albeit one like Leeds United FC who are 15th in the league, may sound interesting for any young player, it's probably not the best option for the American at this time.

Why? Because first of all upon arriving at Leeds, the player would have to look to be a first-team starter. Aaronson would have to compete with Mateusz Klich, Jamie Shackleton, or Adam Forshaw.

And after getting the starting spot, he would have to work hard to keep it to be considered for both the Premier League and the Champions League. And it is the latter competition that interests the player the most, so he would not have to leave Leeds.

The reason? Red Bull Salzburg is in second place in Group G of the Champions League, so they will face the mighty Bayern Munich in next month's round of 16.

In other words, Brenden Aaronson already has the opportunity to play among the elite of European soccer in front of him, so his departure to Leeds, instead of shoring up his future, could hurt him at least for the time being.
