Arsenal FC efforts to acquire a new forward don’t cease, as they are intended to make a strong push for Fiorentina’s Dušan Vlahović, but if the Italian team resists selling the Serbian striker, the Gunners already have negotiations going on with his replacement.

Reports indicate that Arsenal’s technical director, Edu, already had a meeting with Lille OSC’s forward’s agent, to discuss his incorporation to the London squad, something that might happen on the next transfer window as the French outfit are planning on retaining him for the remainder of the season.

The 21-year-old Canadian forward is still under contract with Lille OSC until 2025, but Arsenal could pay up to $56 million to acquire Jonathan David’s economic rights, as they see him fit to become Aubameyang’s successor, who is set to leave Emirates Stadium soon.

Jonathan David’s season with Lille so far

David’s joined French side out of KAA Gante in 2020 for $28 million. During the current season, he’s played 19 games on Ligue 1, where he’s scored 12 goals. He also played the 6 possible games Lille disputed on Champions League, scoring 3 more goals on the international competition.
