Manchester City is starting a deep cleaning at the club. The English team wants to return to dominate in a big way in Europe for the next season and with that, it must get rid of the pieces that have simply ceased to count for Pep Guardiola, such is the case of a player who has even been involved in a legal controversy and the club simply does not want to know anything about it.

It is precisely Benjamin Mendy. The left-back arrived at Manchester City as a key player after a great season with Monaco that reached the Champions League semifinals when Mbappé was there. The Frenchman cost €60 million, a sky-high price for what was expected of him.

There was no doubt about Pep Guardiola's faith in the player. However, extra-sporting problems made his signing a failure. Benjamin Mendy was arrested in November 2020 for allegedly raping a 24-year-old woman at his home. Now, the club finally confirms the departure of the player, who expired contract with the English team.

What will happen to Mendy?

The player follows the judicial process for which he is being investigated. A few days ago he was summoned again with the judge and his career will depend on how his situation ends. At the moment, there is no club linked with the player, but he could end up staying in England if the process goes well. What is a fact is that Manchester City wants nothing to do with him and he becomes one of the worst signings of the club.
