Manchester City is being investigated for breaching Financial Fairplay on more than one occasion. According to Mirror, the club is accused of failing to comply with more than 115 established rules, mainly in terms of account statements, transfers, among others. During the last week, the sanction was confirmed against Everton, who were deducted 10 points for breaking some rules in the past, but for Guardiola's team, it could be up to relegation.
The case launched against the Sky Blues last February is linked to misleading information about their finances. At the same time, the complaint includes not having specified all the details of the remuneration of players and coaches, not complying with the fair rules of the game and not cooperating with the Premier League investigation, according to journalist Sean Ingle of The Guardian.
Despite the fact that the number of fouls would be greater than that of Everton, Guardiola remained in his axis: “It is the lawyers who have to defend themselves before the judge. I did not change my opinion, we waited and then accepted the resolutions.” In this sense, he referred to the possible rulings of finding Manchester City guilty, among which the deduction of points or a recommendation to the league to expel a club from the competition stands out.
"When certain Financial Fair Play rules are established, everyone has to comply with them, otherwise it is no longer fair," said Ten Hag prior to the match against Everton after what happened with the English team. The sanction against Manchester City is not official , but it could be seen next year, or in 2025, since it will be a long investigation. However, for Pep Guardiola, the club is “innocent.” Everything will be resolved in the future.
