Bayern Munich are preparing to make a major splash in the summer transfer window. According to Sky Sports Germany, the Bundesliga giants want to sign Florian Wirtz in June as a key reinforcement ahead of the new Club World Cup in 2025. The deal, if completed, could become one of the most expensive in the club’s history.
Wirtz, just 20 years old, has been a standout performer in Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen side, who recently clinched the Bundesliga title. His intelligence, technical ability and maturity on the ball have made him one of the most coveted players in Europe, and Bayern are eager to secure his services before the competition heats up.
The price tag is substantial: Leverkusen have reportedly set his value at 120 million euros, which would make this a record signing within German football. Bayern, however, view Wirtz as a long-term investment and a player who can make an immediate impact at the international level, especially with the expanded Club World Cup on the horizon.
Manchester City remain alert to the situation. Pep Guardiola’s side have followed Wirtz closely and are still considered Bayern’s main rival in the race. Nevertheless, the player’s preference to stay in Germany could tip the balance in favour of the Bavarian club.
If the deal goes through, it would not only be a bold statement by Bayern but also a strategic move to secure one of the brightest young talents in world football. Wirtz fits the exact profile Bayern look for: young, German, proven in the Bundesliga and ready for the big stage.
Bayern Munich are building a squad capable of conquering the global stage. And Florian Wirtz could be the centrepiece of that next chapter.
