Following a frustrating period marred by injuries and inconsistent performances, the Premier League champions are keen to bolster their squad. Manager Pep Guardiola has been vocal about the need for reinforcements, particularly in the forward line.

The departure of Julián Álvarez to Atlético Madrid last summer left a void in the squad, and the recent injury crisis has exacerbated the issue. Despite having a prolific goal scorer in Erling Haaland, the Cityzens are seeking a versatile forward who can provide adequate cover and competition for the Norwegian.

Jonathan David: A Ligue 1 Gem

One of the players heavily linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium is Lille's Jonathan David. The Canadian international has been in impressive form this season, netting 17 goals and providing five assists in 26 matches. His ability to play both as a central striker and on the wings makes him an attractive proposition for Guardiola. However, with his contract set to expire in the summer, Lille are unlikely to let him go easily mid-season.

Liam Delap: A Homegrown Talent

Another player on City's radar is their own academy graduate, Liam Delap. The 21-year-old striker is currently on loan at Ipswich Town, where he has scored six goals in 17 appearances. Delap has shown great promise in his short career, and City see him as a potential long-term option for their first team. However, persuading Ipswich to recall him early from his loan deal could prove challenging.

The Need for Immediate Impact

With the second half of the season approaching, City are eager to strengthen their squad as quickly as possible. The club's ambitions both domestically and in Europe require a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts. By adding two new attackers, Guardiola hopes to inject fresh energy into his team and improve their chances of success.
