A news that, although expected, doesn't stop causing astonishment and sadness among football lovers. AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has resigned from next summer's European Championship with the Swedish national team due to his knee injury, to focus on his recovery, the Swedish Football Federation (SvFF) announced on Saturday.

"Today Zlatan has informed Janne Andersson that his injury will prevent him from participating in the Eurocup this summer. Get well, Zlatan, we hope to see you soon on the football field!", Confirmed this Saturday the federative body in its official account of the social network Twitter.
The striker, who will turn 40 in October, had to retire last Sunday from the AC Milan game against Juventus suffering from discomfort in his left knee, and his injury was later confirmed.
On March 16, Ibrahimovic returned to a call-up of the Swedish national team for the first time since 2016 to participate in the qualifying phase for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. The former player of FC Barcelona, Inter, Juventus, PSG or Manchester United, among others, is the top scorer in the history of the Scandinavian team (62) and the seventh with the most participations (118), far from Anders Svensson's 148 caps.
For his part, Ibrahimovic used his Instagram account to express his feelings: "I have nothing to offer but blood, work, tears and sweat. I'm timeless...".
