Thierry Henry thinks that Rod Fanni, his experienced 38-year-old central back who was back with the squad for the 2-1 victory game against the Columbus Crew last Wednesday, is a key player for his team to make Clement Diop feel safer. The French defender didn't had an easy job on his day back at the office because he had to guard Gyasi Zardes.
The former Olympique de Marseille was vital in preventing the Crew from scoring, although Columbus's top scorer managed himself to momentaneously tie the game. Fanni did a great job and he even avoided Columbus's striker Emmanuel Boateng to scored when the game was coming to an end.
Fanni is coming back from a calf injury that that has been bodering him for quite a while. Now that he has left the pain in his leg behind, he can add the security that Henry's team needs to keeping improving after an awful streak. The coach said that, at this level, Fanni is vital for the team and is what they need more than ever.
Thierry Henry, Rod Fanni and the Montreal Impact, after beating the Eastern former leader, will face their next opponent next Sunday night. They will visit the tremendously hostil Subaru Park to face Philadelphia Union. This will be the first MLS game attended by fans, thanks to a new Pennsylvania ruling.
