Nashville SC is one of the teams in spotlight at MLS. After the expansion team won its second match at MLS history a name rumbled loud: Walker Zimmerman. The centreback arrived at the new franchise at the beginning of the year in a record amount of allocation money for a defender in the deal. Today he is masterfully paying his arrival.
Born in Lawrenceville, the 27-year-old player is a wall in Nashville's defense. His team sent $600,000 of allocation money in 2020 to Los Angeles FC and will send $350,000 in 2021 as well as incentives based on games played which could push the total to $1.25 million.
Last year, LA FC had the best defense in MLS. Since they trade Zimmerman, now they're allowing over 2 goals per game. On the other hand, Nashville SC is averaging 1.14 goals per game and has a clean sheet in three of its last four apparences. Certainly, as experts said: a good team is formed from the back to the front. And Zimmerman represents fully that idea.
